Download Johnny Clegg’s ‘The Crossing’ by DHL Stormers and Friends now
Johnny Clegg’s ‘The Crossing’ by the DHL Stormers and Friends is now available for download on Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify, with all proceeds going to The Click Foundation.
Last week a tribute video of the studio recording was released on DHL Stormers social media platforms (view here: Johnny Clegg’s The Crossing | DHL Stormers & Friends) and from Friday, April 17 that version of the song, performed by the DHL Stormers squad and various South African artists and celebrities, is available for download.
‘The Crossing’ has special significance for the DHL Stormers as it was used as a team song for the 2020 Vodacom Super Rugby competition, with the squad singing it in the changeroom after games, before the current season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now that the song is available on Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify for download, it will also begin generating valuable income for a worthy cause.
Having given their blessing for the DHL Stormers and Friends to record the iconic song, the Clegg family requested that all proceeds go to The Click Foundation, which promotes the use of technology in education.
The primary focus of the Click Foundation is the implementation of online English literacy programmes in under-privileged primary schools across South Africa. The programmes offers young learners the opportunity to work at their own pace through fun and enjoyable activities, navigating their learning journey by means of technology.
The full 11-minute video documenting the recording of the song and ‘behind the scenes’ interviews with DHL Stormers players and artists will premiere on SuperSport (DSTV channel 210) at 16h45 on Friday. There will also be subsequent screenings of the video across various SuperSport channels in the coming week.
