DHL Stormers want to impose themselves

The DHL Stormers will be focused on imposing themselves on the opposition when they face the Jaguares at DHL Newlands on Saturday.

Having worked hard on the training pitch on both their conditioning and rugby-specific skills in the pre-season, the DHL Stormers are looking forward to the challenge that awaits them at 15h05 on Saturday at DHL Newlands.

While they have studied the Jaguares and will be prepared for the specific threats they pose, the focus in the build-up to this game has been on their own game and how they can dictate to the opposition.

The DHL Stormers have two wins from their two previous encounters with the Jaguares, with both matches being hard-fought affairs on either side of the Atlantic Ocean.

The DHL Stormers have changed up their coaching set-up in the off-season, with slightly new roles assigned to Assistant Coaches Paul Treu (Structured Play) and Paul Feeney (Backs and Skills.

Treu said that having implemented some new ideas in the summer break, the focus this weekend will be on how the DHL Stormers can impose themselves on the opposition.

“We respect the Jaguares and we know what they are about, but we have focused mainly on ourselves and what we want to do in the early part of the season. There has been a lot of focus on attacking plays and that is what we would like to see come together against the Jaguares,” he said.

Having previously served as Defence Coach, Treu said that he is enjoying his new role within the management group.

I am enjoying getting involved and getting stuck into the attack part of it. Obviously, it helps that after being the defence coach I have a good understanding of the attacking and defensive intent of the other teams. I can reverse the roles well and it will benefit the team going forward.
